Open Space Committee August 23, 2006 / 7:30 pm
Present: Judy Brainerd, Glen Collins, Laura Freeman, Katelyn Merrill, and Sue Horton
Approval of Meeting Minutes
MOTION: Glen moved and Laura seconded to approve the July 26, 2006 meeting minutes.
APPROVED: unanimously.
Land Acquisition:
Harris – The family is seriously considering the development of the property. Two of the family members want to build on the property. They are talking to the Town about possibly selling some property to the Town. It is still up in the air. The property holds much interest to the Open Space Committee.
Fletcher et al – This is the property on Harmes Way. The Audubon wanted the property. An agreement was in the works between the property owner and the Audubon, but now the property owner wants to increase the asking price, so the deal is off for now.
Fellers, Crary – No word on Fellers. Nothing new on Crary.
Priority Parcels – we need an updated list. Perhaps Mary Elizabeth, the Town Planner can help us get started with the list.
Open Space Management:
CPA Funds
Glen talked to Sheila in regards to the funds for our grant. The money is available and Katelyn can order the mutt mitts etc. The billing procedure has been established. We are full speed ahead to order the items approved in our CPA application. We will order 10 mutt mitt containers and plenty of refills.
Wiley Park Bridge Progress
Glen told Sheila we are designing a full ADA designed bridge upon discussion with the Board of Selectmen and Richard Adleman. Sheila needs to have a plan. Joe Bianchi needs to redesign the bridge. We also need to hire him to do this. The grant money is there to pay him for the redesign. We will pursue some ADA funds for the bridge. If that does not happen we can apply for more funds through the CPA. The Barnstable County Grant that we got last year is coming up again. We should know by November if we need CPA funds for the bridge.
Green Grant Board: The display case we obtained through the Green Grant is installed in Wiley Park and there is material on display.
Old Business:
Open Space-
Bob Cook told Judy he is reapplying/reasserting his interest in the Open Space and the Conservation Commission position.
Open Space management Plan-
It is close to being done.
New Business
1651 Forest
No news on that front.
Conservation Commission
There have been some exciting hearings and interesting projects. The permitting is becoming more complicated.
Community Preservation Act Committee
Judy went to see the CPA Committee to give them an update of what is on Open Space’s horizon for projects. They will be asking for project applications towards the end of November.
